Why your skin needs 8 hours of beauty sleep too

Updated: Jul 8, 2020

Research Shows that a lack of sleep can increase your cortisol levels. Cortisols are the stress hormones. When this happens you are putting your skin in a pro-inflammatory state. This can produce puffiness around the eyes. Your body will produce more collagen when you fall asleep at night. Collagen helps your skin retain tightness and bounce. Collagen also helps your skin repair and regenerate itself. To help your skin look it's best try to get at least 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Limit alcohol (Sorry wine drinkers!) and cigarettes before bed. Keep up this routine to promote a good night's rest. Using bath salts before bed can calm the senses and soothe the skin. Use a great smelling body butter from Thekalmlyfe before bed to help retain moisture in the skin while you are sleep.
